Just One of Those Days

!!!WARNING VERY LONG RAMBLING POST!!!
Today was a pretty lousy day. My poor baby has had repeated eye infections due to a clogged tear duct. Each time we would take Crew to the doctor and he would tell me to massage the eye and give me antibiotic drops. We had enough of that and wanted to know what to do to solve the problem NOW. So after a referral from the pediatrician, I took Crew to the eye specialist for. On the way there at 8:15 this morning my cabby thought that he'd take advantage of the 'blondie with the baby' and went 15 mins out of the way only to make a large loop, thinking I wouldn't notice. I probably wouldn't have realized except that he went right back to the street where Jeremy works (which is one block from our house) My heart started racing (as I'm not too good with confrontations. But this time I was going to stand my ground.) I asked him why he had made a large loop only to come right back where we had started. He said, "Oh must have been a mistake." (Yeah a mistake to try and pull a quick one on me, I thought.) I was steaming and wasn't sure what to do about it. (Of course I sent Jer a text to explain, as I didn't want to discuss this out loud. That would be way too confrontational.) But Jer called back and we talked. . . Yes in the cab with the cabby still driving! (That part made me a little nervous) We decided that I was not going to pay the full fare. The cabby was listening as I talked to Jer and I think he realized he messed with the wrong 'blondie' because as we arrived to the hospital (at 5 to 9:00 nearly 45mins later!) he said that since it was his mistake he would only charge me $12 instead of the $21 fare. YEAH I'D SAY SO!!! So I felt pretty accomplished that I didn't get pushed around. When we got to the doctors it was more bad news. After waiting almost an hour we saw the doctor and discovered that if we want to fix the problem now it will require general anesthetic and a minor surgery. We're not to keen on that idea so we got another bottle of drops and are back to the massaging. By this time it is now 10:30 Crew is tired, hungry and has a goopy eye, but still he is giving all the office ladies a smile. He really is the best baby. The entire time the doctor was checking his eye he kept giving her his biggest smiles. It was so cute. I digress, back to the terrible day. As we arrived home we had to say goodbye to Helen, my neighbor and friend. Her family moved to a different apartment complex and they are no longer our neighbors. It makes me so sad to walk outside and see an empty porch. Even Daisy was so sad to see them go. But I'm putting on a happy face because they are still here in Singapore and their new home is just a few mins away. :) On a positive note my baby is in bed fast asleep. And last week he slept completely through the night 3 times. I mean going to bed at 6:00pm and waking up at 5:30am for a quick feed then back to bed till 7:30am. (I wish I could say I slept well those nights but I didn't. I kept waking up as I became more and more engorged, and I kept thinking I heard him cry. So I'd have to get out of bed and check on him, like 15 times! AHHH!!!) Well I'm gonna go marinate on the couch, watch tv and wait for this lousy day to end when Jer gets home from work!

Good for you for standing your ground. I had that happen once and I didn't confront him and was so mad afterwards.

I'm so sorry to hear about Crew's eye. Debbie mentioned it last night at dinner (we missed you by the way). Deborah Smith said her son had that and she's a nurse as well so she may be a good person to talk to about it.

That's awesome he is sleeping through the night but it does stink when you can't enjoy it because your milk hasn't adjusted to it yet.

Yeah, you gotta love it when you are in a foreign country and people think because you are blonde, you don't know what's going on! I can relate. (c: POOR CREW!!! I hope his eye is better soon...nothing is worse than seeing your baby not at 100% )c:

Way to take charge and make the blondes proud!!!! That will teach 'em to mess with us!!!!:)) What a crappy day though--so sorry and I hope his poor eye gets better. I hear it's pretty common though, our neighbors just had to go threw the surgery with their little guy--they waited till he was almost one to do it. Hope you guys are well!!
