I should've known it'd be a rough week when Giant was out of the 'good' kind of pampers. I resentfully bought the 'bikini cut' pampers that were left crowding the shelves. I even upsized to Large hoping they'd be better. All to no avail as I've had 3 blow-outs in the last two days. Yesterday's second outfit I threw away because I didn't want to clean it. How is it possible to have more poo on the baby's back than in the diaper? (Don't feel too bad it was an ugly outfit and annoyingly difficult to put on.) But today's real frustration isn't about poo. Rather my one vice with Crew . . . sleep training.
I can still hear Crew's low cry ringing in my ears from today's efforts to 'sleep train'. I thought I had it all sorted out and he was doing great. I guess I got a little too confident, because this week when I put him down in his crib with his binki and blanket snuggled just the way he likes it, he wouldn't drift off to sleep like usual. No instead he pulled the binki out of his mouth and mindlessly knocked himself in the face as he tried to put it back. The battle began, me trying to keep it in so he'll sleep and him trying to pull it out. WHY??? I have no idea. Yes he is tired and definitely ready for a nap! No I’m not trying to be too scheduled! (That’s what I hear every time I try to talk about my frustrations with getting Crew to nap better.) I had had enough and thought now would be a good time to try the 'extinction' method. That's the one where you just let them cry it out. (Anyone who has read the book Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child, knows what I'm talking about.) I should’ve known better than to try that after we were both overtired and ornery from doing this prior for the morning nap. Obviously I wasn't determined enough and I could barely take 15 mins of it. I was bawling and all worked up, and he wasn't any closer to sleep than when we started. I gave in and picked him up. He was all smiles and giggles knowing he won yet again. Defeated I rocked him to sleep. Ahh maybe tomorrow. . . (Yup I'm a softy . . . any input on how to tough it out???)
Shockingly I feel much better now that I got that all out. It also helped that Jeremy just happened to call during my 'breakdown' after some consoleing he mentioned that he needs to go to Idaho for meetings in November and asked if Crew and I would like to come along. OF COURSE!!! YAY!!! We're going to go a few days early so we can spend some time in Utah before and after the meetings. I can't wait!!! On that happy note here are some pictures of my handsome little devil. :0)
His first time in the exersaucer. Not completely sold on it since he isn't totally stable. He occassionally nose dives into the toys. (Of course Daisy too)
Just enjoying the rain. It was comin down like crazy! I wish you could see how much rain, it was quite a sight.
Chewin on his little sausages.
Crew's second haircut, but needed to be documented because first haircut from Daddy.
(Oh that face just melts my heart.)
Where's Daisy?
He did a great job. Thanks daddy.

oh man. :( I hope the next day gets better! i'm no mom but i have a friend here that at three months she lets them scream it out at night. sorry that doesnt really help for naps i guess buti will def. have to try the 3 month night method!
He prob is too tired when you put him down. Try to put him down earlier. When I let them cry I go outside and read a book. Then you can't hear them and then I come back in every fifteen minutes and give them back their binkie. This is the not so fun part but once you tough it out it is all worth it! Good luck!
I'm havin' the same sleep issues with Halle right now. Might be the stage of life their in. Who knows? Anyways, kills me to let her cry too long, so I'm definetely a give in and for sure will be for awhile. And about the exersaucer, give it a few weeks. It's Halle's favorite toy now. By the way, Lacey teaches the 3rd grade class I was going to teach (you probably know that), anyways fun she knows ya too!
coming to Idaho?!?! You guys better give us a call if you have even one second. let us know when. it looks like jeremy learned from the best. lol
That is cool that you get to come back to the States....it was really weird for us when we made our first visit back. You start to think, "Well, in Singapore we do this...." It is kind of funny. You also notice how our figures are not as the Singaporeans if you know what I mean.
Comfort food?! What did I teach you, you have a McD's across the street!
Lastly, I guess it is Father like Son. Bikini diapers?! I have seen Jer Bear in a speedo before, it's in the blood!!
Good luck with the sleeping thing. If you are like me, I need my sleep so I struggle with the training period. Nice job with the haircut Jeremy! He really is a cute little roley poley. Miss you guys!
What a little stud, i just started putting brea in the exersaucer and she loves it. its so funny. one day these two will have to get together
